No UN Declaration Supports People's Revolt: Gautam
NHRN Kathmandu, September 21: A former senior United Nations official has said no UN declaration supports people's revolt as claimed by Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Talking to avenues TV Sunday morning, former Assistant Secretary-General of the UN, and deputy Executive Director of UNICEF Kul Chandra Gautam said, "I don't know any UN charter that supports a people's revolt."
Unified CPN (Maoist) chairman Dahal had said on Saturday that his party would launch a decisive people's revolt soon after festivals if a consensus is not reached till then. He said even the UN would support the 'people's revolt'.
Gautam, who has been critical of Maoists in his recent articles, urged top political leaders to become more responsible in their expressions and refrain from creating confusion among the people and their cadres.
"Dahal could have said so to encourage his cadres," Gautam said, "But, it is not appropriate to win support by giving false information.
